A Lesson Learnt Through Cancer Research UK

Mahmood Mazhar, Chief Executive of Core Telecom, scored a home goal when he bagged the top bid of £400 at a charity auction in Leeds, purchasing a signed Leeds United Football Club shirt from the 2009/2010 season.
The shirt, donated to Cancer Research UK by the football club, has been signed by the full team, including manager Simon Grayson and golden footed Jermaine Beckford whose winning goal against Bristol Rovers, sealed Leeds United’s promotion to the Championship next season.
Mahmood Mazhar was delighted with the shirt knowing that all funds were going to such a great cause. Mazhar first became involved with Cancer Research UK after he was assigned community service for a small misdemeanour at one of the charities’ shops in Roundhay, Leeds.
Taking his role seriously he used his experience in business to develop and aid the shop in regards to shop layout and organised fundraising events. The store manager, Catherine MacPherson, welcomed Mazhar’s efforts awarding him several certificates for outstanding contribution.
Mazhar’s generosity did not end with Cancer Research UK. Core Telecoms Company Accountant, Paul Rourke, has idealised the northern based football club since being a young boy. As a tap on the back and a thank you for all his hard work, Mazhar generously gave Rourke the valuable piece of memorabilia.
“It was a fantastic gesture, I am so honoured; the shirt takes pride of place in my hallway at home. I am looking forward to seeing Leeds play in the Championship next year,” boasted Rourke.
Mazhar continues to support Cancer Research UK.
