As Managing Director of Wealth Matters, an Independent Financial Consultancy, Julian Gilbert was impressed with the work that Info IQ had put into his two company web sites. So much so that he enlisted Info IQ’s help on a very different project, which held personal interest.

Front of Gorse CotageWhen Julian invested in Gorse Cottage, a holiday home in the New Forest, he inherited bricks, mortar, and a substandard web site. Clearly, the site was failing to sell the property. Julian wanted to be able to post last minute cancellations and amend prices to attract visitors and reflect seasonal demand, but the site lacked that facility. The existing photo collection took 20 minutes to download, an aspect that was an instant turn off for prospective holidaymakers, who wanted to make their minds up quickly.

Julian’s aim was to maximise the occupancy of his property, to obtain a steady stream of repeat business and to continue to increase the return on investment.

Info IQ’s brief was simple and straightforward. They were to re-vamp the site so that it increased its profile and attracted more business

The New Forest from the front gateInfo IQ firstly converted the photographs into easily downloadable formats. This instantly enhanced the enjoyment and visual experience of those viewing the site. Info IQ next designed an easy to use content management system. This enabled Julian to regularly update his site with information and to keep actively promoting to entice new visitors.

A second phase introduced a completely new style and added new features, including detailed maps of the area and a useful links page.

The gardenThe proof is in the pudding is in the eating... so they say. The best evidence that these amendments improved the site’s efficiency, and profitability, is the number of foreign bookings that occurred, shortly after the new site was launched. These bookings equated to 4000 pounds in revenue. The families booked from as far away as Australia and the USA… They made their choice simply as a result of the confidence created by the web site’s look and feel. An added bonus is that the revitalised site has increased its popularity with the search engines.
